The plan was a simple ten-kilometre walk to Kutelka. It became fourteen kilometres and over a thousand metres of elevation gain. I was already getting used to my walks turning out longer than the first idea.
This was my second documented hike, and I had brought the GoPro 12 instead of relying on my phone. I was learning what changed when I put a different camera between me and the day.
The footage looked different, but there were practical things to work out too. I did not have enough battery power for long hikes filmed entirely in 4K, and I missed having more zoom. I started thinking about when to use higher resolution and when to keep things simpler.
Kutelka, at 1,084 metres, gave me another good day outside and a place to practise all of that. I wanted the videos to feel honest, including the parts I had not figured out yet.
There was a lot left to learn. For now, I had another walk from home recorded, and that felt like a worthwhile start.
